A2Z was contracted by MSRC, or Marine
Spill Response Corporation, to deploy MSRC's equipment
during spill responses they have in the Maryland area. On two
occasions, A2Z was called, unannounced, to test their response
time to a test area. A crew of 13 was required in Sandy Point,
Maryland. Two tractors, a container of boom, a roll-off truck
and a crew of thirteen men reported to Sandy Point. MSRC's
spill response boat was towed to the scene by A2Z. A2Z's
tractor picked up a trailer containing a barge. Using a crane
that was on site, A2Z launched the barge and manned it for
the exercise. The exercise took approximately 8 hours to complete.
The second training exercise was completed
at the McComas Street pier, in Baltimore, Maryland. The call
requested a five man crew towed the response boat. A2Z sent
one tractor to pick up the barge. A crane was on site. This
exercise took four hours to complete.
